Since there is a journal section, I thought I will post un-eventful day trip down to the coast for grocery shopping.
ヨージョージャーナルのセクションがあるわけだから、たまには、特に行事があるわけでもない日常の海岸沿いの街への買い物の記録です。
リサイクルセンター: Recycle center
The first stop was at a recycling center in Seaside. Lots of cardboards because we buy online often. And other usual items–paper, plastic, glass, and metal. I had a big bag of aluminum cans which can be redeemed for 5 cents each. Drop it in the yard of our friend’s house right by the recycling center for donations.
最初のストップはc シーサイドの街にあるリサイクルセンター。オンライン・ショッピングが多いので、ダンボール箱がかなりある。その他のいつもの素材、紙製品、プラスティック、ガラス、そして金属。今回は一缶5セントに換金出来るアルミニウムの缶の大きな袋があった。それをリサイクルセンターのすぐ近くにある知人の家の庭に落としてく。家計の足しにするのだ。
ホームディーポ; The Home Depot
A typical store you can find any big box store shopping area anywhere in the U.S.A.. It is inevitable for me as I get some of my art supplies here. A couple of metal cutting wheels and wood stain. That kind of stuff.
アメリカどこでも、大型の店舗が並ぶショッピングセンターには必ずあるのがホームディーポだ。僕もアートの資材を買う事があるのでどうしても行ってしまう。今回は金属用の切断盤と木工の仕上げのオイルを、そんな感じだ。
フレッド・マイヤーズ: Fred Myers
Fred Meyers is a big chain grocery store in PNW. A part of a big grocery retail company called Kroger. I purchased various kinds of vegetables that tend to throw cashiers off trying to identify them. A middle-aged female cashier asked me, “You don’t eat meat?”. And two six-packs of beer, of course.
フレッドマイヤーズはパシフィック・ノースウェストでは大手のチェーンの食料品店だ。クロガーと呼ばれる大きな企業の一部だ。レジの人がよく何の野菜であるのか混乱するような種類の野菜たくさんを買う。レジのおばさんが、「あんた肉は食べないの？」と質問してくる。
ナチュラル・グローサーズ Natural Grocers
We started noticing Natural Grocers in various cities in the West. They carry organic vegetables and natural ingredients products without the high price tags of Whole Foods. We are glad that there is one on the coast. It was unthinkable that we could buy konbu and wakame at local stores 20 years ago. Things change for better sometimes.
ここ数年で 西部で割と見かける様になってきたナチュラル・グローサーズ。オーガニックの野菜や自然食品を扱う食料品店で、ホールフーズのほど値段は高くない。海岸沿いに一店舗あるのがありがたい。20年前では近くの食料品店で昆布やワカメが買えるなんてあり得なかった。時代を経て良くなる事もあるものだ。
まとめ
Just an ordinary day of our life in the Oregon coastal range. And a whole afternoon is gone because I had to drive long distances.
These stores like The Home Depot and Walmart are relatively new. It used to be marshy coastal forests. And there used to be fewer people in general.
オレゴン海岸山脈の特別な事はない1日でした。長距離を運転しなければならない事もあり、これで午後いっぱいかかってしまいます。
ホームディーポやウォルマートは比較的新しく建てられた店舗だ。昔は海岸沿いの砂っぽい湿地帯に木々が茂っていた所だ。 そして全体的に人はもっと少なかった。
