やっと終わった選挙。 でも、イマイチスッキリしない訳。

I have been exchanging congratulatory texts with many friends this morning.

今朝は友人たちと祝福のテキストを交換している。

We had been holding our collective breaths for some time.

皆、しばらくの間、集合的に息を飲んで事態を見ていた。

After all the damages Trump has done, you would imagine he would have lost by a big margin.

トランプのおかげのダメージをこれだけ経験した後なので、トランプは圧倒的に負けると思っていた。

But the race was too close for comfort.

しかしレースはとても近いものだった。

America do have a problem of cultural division.

アメリカは文化的な亀裂の問題を抱えている。

The fact remains that there are close to half of people of this country thinks Trump would be better for our president.

トランプが大統領であることを望む人たちが半数近く存在する事実が消える事はない。

It makes me really uncomfortable because I have a hard time understanding why people can choose him.

僕自身、トランプを支持する理由を理解できないので、とても落ち着かない。

I wrote about QAnon sometime ago. Since then, the word “QAnon” became more ubiquitous.

少し前に「キューアノン」についての記事を書いた。それ以来「キューアノン」と言う言葉をそこら中で見るようになった。

The person who had openly supported QAnon conspiracy theory will be in the US congress!

キューアノンの陰謀説を公に支持した人間が今やアメリカの議員となるのだ！

彼らの懸念

After reading many accounts of Trump supporters, I come to realize there are Trump supporter main concerns:

トランプ支持者の意見の記事を色々読んでみて、大体の主な理由が以下である事が分かった；

1. Socialists will take over America.
2. Democrats will take their guns away.
3. Democrats will keep abortion legal.
4. Democrats will destroy the economy.

1. 社会主義者がアメリカを乗っ取る
2. 民主党が銃を取り上げる
3. 民主党は人々の中絶の権利を維持する
4. 民主党はアメリカの経済を破壊する

All but No.3 are inaccurate out of the list. Democrats are intending to keep the right of abortion, but other three points are baseless claims.

このリストのうち、３番だけが正しいクレームだ。民主党が中絶を非合法にする事は無い。しかしそのほかの3つのポイントは全く根拠がない。

Why do people believe these baseless information?

なぜ人々はこのような根拠の無い情報を信じるのか？

The internet.

それはインターネットのおかげだ。

The more I think about the problems that America is facing, the more convinced I become about the negative influences of the social media networks.

アメリカの抱える問題を考えれば考えるほど、ソーシャルメディアの悪影響について確信する。

The false information is literally dividing our culture.

誤情報がアメリカの文化対立を引き起こしているのだ。
