オレゴン州もついに一般の人に対するワクチン接種を始めた。登録していた州のウェブサイトから連絡があり、それに応じて地元のカウンティのワクチン通知システムに加入。その１週間半後にワクチン接種の予約が取れた。
Oregon finally started vaccination for the general public. I got the notification from the state health department web-site. Then I registered myself with our county vaccine notification system. I signed up for the first shot after a week and a half.
会場
会場は地元の高校の旧校舎。予約の時間帯に行くと、駐車場にはかなりの数の車が停まっており、次々と人々が建物の中に入っていく。
It was at the old local high school. When I went there, many cars were in the parking lot. People were going into the building constantly.
18歳以上を対象にしているはずだが、40歳より若そうな人はほぼ居ない。
There weren’t any people looking younger than 40, even though it was open to anybody above 18.
廊下に沿って長い列があり、皆、６フィート間隔をあけて並んでいる。
There was a long line along the hallway with the 6 feet distances.
今回は「モデルナ」の接種で、「モデルナ」についての情報、コロナ・ワクチン接種についての情報を手渡される。
発音的には「モダーナ」だと思うが、カタカナ表記は「モデルナ」が主流のようだ。
It was “Moderna”. We were given information about Moderna and Corona virus vaccination in general.
列はかなりのスピード動いて、10分以内で、ワクチン接種のテーブルが６台ほどある場所に到達。針が刺さった感覚もないまま、一瞬のうちに終了。本当にちゃんと射ってくれたのだろうか心配になるほどだ。
The line was moving quickly. Within 10 minutes I got the head of the line where there were about 6 vaccination tables. I didn’t even feel anything and it was done. It was so fast that I wasn’t sure the needle went in.
この後、体育館に移動し、ヴァクシネーション・カードを渡され、2回目の接種の予約の順序を説明される。そして、間隔を空けて置いてある椅子で15分待機。
Then, we went on to the gym where we got a vaccination card and the instruction as to how to make the 2nd shot appointment.
副作用などの情報や説明
かなりの割合で、ワクチン接種を拒否、あるいは見送る人が多い。
There is a big percentage of people who reject or wait the vaccine.
未知の状況で、短期間に開発されたワクチンに対する懐疑を持つのは当然ではある。そんな不安感を払拭するためか、ワクチンの材料等の説明のしおりも渡された。
It’s natural as this is an unknown situation and the vaccine was developed in a short time. In order to ease these worries, we were given an information sheet regarding ingredients of the vaccine.
アレルギー反応が無い事を15分感確認する場所には救急車も待機していた。
There was an ambulance stood by at the place where people wait for15 minutes for the possible allergenic reactions.
副作用
ワクチン接種後、腕が痛くなったので、ちゃんと針が刺さったのだと安心出来た。
After the vaccination, my arm was aching, so I knew I was vaccinated OK.
翌日は少し普段よりも疲労気味だったが、ワクチンのせいかどうはわからない。１回目よりは2回目の方が副作用が多いらしい。
I felt a bit tired the following day, but I wasn’t sure if it is because of the shot. Supposedly the second shot has more side effects that the first.
僕の母は、同じくモダーナの2回目の接種をした後、少し風邪のような症状があったと言っていた。
My mother also got the second shot of Moderna, and she said she had light symptoms of common cold.
まとめ
僕らの住んでいる場所は、人口も少なく、コロナのケースもあまりない。しかし、この一年回、自分事よりも、他人にコロナをうつしてしまう心配がいつもあった。
There haven’t been many Corona virus cases in the county where we live. But I have been worrying the possibilities of making other people sick, rather that my own illness.
ワクチンの普及のスピードは僕が想像していたよりもはるかに早い。世界的にはまだまだ行き渡っていないのに、すでに接種出来るのはとてもありがたい事だ。
The vaccination is moving much faster than I had imagined. It was wonderful to be able to get vaccine when other parts of the world aren’t.
変異種が急速に蔓延している現在、ワクチン接種のスピードがより重要となっている。
The speed of vaccination is getter more important as the mutated variants seem to spread quickly.
