About 2 or 3 weeks after the first big rain, we usually start seeing boletes in Sitka spruce forests along the Oregon coast.

Our mushroom hunting enthusiast friends and we went out to Ft. Steven’s State park.

フォートスティーブンズ Ft. Stevens State Park
This is the state park where Rob and I visited last year for a ride on the beach.
昨年9月にロブと浜辺を自転車で走った時に紹介した州立公園。
There are many mushroom hunters visit this park around this time of year.
スプルースの大木の森が砂地にあり、この時期にはキノコ狩りに来る人も多い。
The two-mile hiking trail around Coffenbury Lake is very flat, well maintained, and dreamily beautiful. A surf lake surrounded by Sitka spruce grove.
コッフェンバリー湖を回る２マイルのハイキングトレイルはとても平坦で綺麗に整備されている。そして夢のように美しいのだ。
ティラモック・ヘッド Tillamook Head
This is a peninsula between Seaside and Cannon Beach.
ここはシーサイドとキャノンビーチの間の岬だ。
A steep climb for one hour, flat trail on the bluff for another hour, and descend to Cannon Beach side for one hour. And repeat… This can be hard but very rewarding.
急な登りが1時間。台地の上のトレイルが1時間。キャノンビーチ側への下りが1時間。そして帰り。結構キツイがそれだけの価値がある。
In terms of mushroom hunting, I have never had a luck here.
キノコ狩りに関しては、ここではあまり採れたことは無いのだが…。
オズワルド・ウェスト Oswald West State park
From a parking lot along Hwy 101, there is an easy short trail to Short Sand Beach.
ハイウェイ101沿いの駐車場から「ショートサンド」ビーチまで短い簡単なトレイルがある。
An Oregon coastal experience at its best. I used to surf in this state park a lot. This park was one of the reason we decided to move around here.
オレゴンの海岸を満喫したいならばここだ。昔はよくここでサーフィンをしていた。この公園は僕らがこの辺に引越しを決めた理由の１つでもある。
There are several hiking trails within the park. I found some boletes here.
公園内にはハイキングコースがいくつかあり、ボリートマッシュルームも採れる。
まとめ
キングボリートに加え、シャントレルマッシュルームを探しに、近所の裏山も徘徊しているため結構忙しいのです。日も短くなって行くし、全く秋ですな。
大統領選挙やパンデミック、社会が不安定なこの頃、自然の中に居るのは良いことだ。
